About Central Scotland Safety Forum
Central Scotland Safety Forum is one of over 70 occupational health and safety groups throughout the UK affiliated to Safety Groups UK and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The Forum

The Forum is also one of a dozen Safety Groups in Scotland affiliated to The Scottish Chamber of Safety (SCoS). We cover the Forth Valley area, primarily taking in the Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Council districts. Members from adjoining areas are also welcome.

Membership

Membership of the Forum is open to any organisation in all three sectors, private, public and not-for-profit. Member organisations are entitled to send their representative(s) to our monthly meetings and to receive papers and presentations from speakers. Members’ representatives may be health and safety professionals or they may be business owners and directors, line managers and supervisors or others with an interest in health and safety matters.

History

A safety group has existed in the Falkirk area since the 1960s known then as Falkirk and District Industrial Accident Prevention Group, the name reflecting the heavy industry of the area at that time represented in the Group’s membership. Member organisations in the 1970s included Walter Alexander Coachbuilders, BP Chemicals, British Aluminium, Caterpillar Tractor Co., Gestetner, GR Stein Refractories, Glynwed Foundries, Grahamston Iron Co. and UG Closures and Plastics.
